Bones of Handless Man Found Near Mysterious Medieval Dolphin Burial

archaeologicalnews:

The body of a man without hands, thought to have been buried hundreds of years ago, has been found by archaeologists on a rocky islet off the coast of Guernsey, one of the British Channel Islands — just a few feet from where a mysterious medieval skeleton of a dolphin was found last year.

Phil De Jersey, a Guernsey government archaeologist, said the skeleton of the handless man appeared to have been buried much later than the baffling burial of that dolphin skeleton on the same islet, and therefore the two burials probably aren’t related.

But he said that the latest find added much to the mystery of the rocky islet of Chapelle Dom Hue.

The islet lies about 900 feet (300 meters) from the west coast of Guernsey, overlooking the sea and the stones of a Neolithic burial ground on the mainland of the island. Read more.

Literally

This is interesting to me, because actually the way tumblr is already so visibly so bad at a) putting their new policies into clear operational language and b) implementing those policies in a fair and evenhanded way really says a lot to me about why tumblr can’t just ban nazis—because if they did, they would ban every single one of us reblogging this. Everyone who talks about the rise of neo nazis or warns about white nationalism rearing its ugly head would be gone. Tumblr obviously is either incapable or too disinterested to spend the time to actually give both their robots & their userbase a clear set of criteria to determine what does and does not violate their guidelines (and what falls into a gray area), and so I have to say that I finally see their logic. They can’t ban nazis; it would require too much effort.
